PESHAWAR (Pajhwok): Four children of a family have been killed and five others, including a woman, injured in a drone strike in the North Waziristan tribal district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
The strike took place in the Hurmuz village of Mir Ali tehsil on Monday, killing four children of the same family and injuring five others, including a woman.
Panic-stricken residents took the injured to the Mir Ali Hospital, sources told Dawn. Some of the injured are said to be in critical condition.
Both security personnel and the Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan are known to have been using quadcopters in the region.
Following the incident, area people, including tribal elders and youth staged a sit-in against the suspected quad copter strike.
In a social media post, KP Minister for Relief Naik Muhammad Dawar denounced the attack. He wrote the blood of innocent children would not go in vain.
Calling the strike a crime against humanity, Dawar promised he would raise voice against it on every platform. He said they would also make all-out efforts to ensure the culprits were brought to justice.
