PUL-I-ALAM (Pajhwok): Buildings for five schools have been constructed and put into service with financial support from Japan in central Logar province, an official said on Tuesday.
At a ceremony in this regard, Head of Education Department Maulvi Abdul Rahman Hamidi said the buildings consumed 50 million afghanis and were constructed by the Japanese government.
He said these buildings were constructed for Bibi Aisha, Pashtunabad, Deh Mugholan, Kamalkhel, and Haji Ahmad Jan schools.
According to Hamidi, each school building has six classrooms, an administrative room, a storage room, a water well, solar power and regular water systems, handwashing facilities, concrete trash cans, and six toilets.
Previously, these schools had no buildings and their students faced many problems. With the construction of new buildings, necessary educational environment is provided to nearly 5,000 students, he added.
On the other hand, Acting Minister of Education Mawlawi Habibullah Agha said the inauguration of five school buildings was an important achievement for Logar, and efforts were underway to construct buildings for schools where students were still studying under the open sky.
Since IEA’s takeover, there have been significant developments and achievements in the education sector in the country, including Logar province.
Currently, 70 schools lack buildings and 100 schools need reconstruction in the province.
